H.C. Starck Award for the best PhD thesis in the field of solid state chemistry and material science was handed over in Regensburg on September 26th, 2018
Dr. Weinmann conferred the H.C. Starck Award for the best PhD thesis in the field of solid state chemistry and material science at the 19th meeting for Inorganic Chemistry of the German Association of Chemists (GDCh) in Regensburg.
H.C. Starck award, endowed with 5000 €, was installed in 1995 and awarded every other year making it the 12th recurrence in 2018. This year’s awardees were selected by an independent group of experts from the German Association of Chemists (GDCh). The awardees this year are Dr. Sebastian Bette for his dissertation on “Basic Chlorides of Nickel and Magnesium with special consideration of practical solutions for deposition of radioactive and toxic waste in salt rocks” and Dr. Chia-Chin Chen for his dissertation with the title ”Mass storage at heterojunctions: theory, experimental evidence and electrochemical applications”. The awards were conferred in front of more than 600 participants from universities, research institutes and the chemical industry.
